lotus garden restaurant

long island, ny

This renovation was a complete revitalization of the Lotus Garden Restaurant.  Lotus is a Chinese and Japanese fusion restaurant with a diverse menu.  We combined a variety of materials and textures to match the complexity of the cuisine.

Two of the main walls are custom cut wood slats that vary in length and thickness.  Each piece of wood installed was cut from reclaimed lumber and was left with the rough texture of the wood.  An avocado ribbon wraps these same walls breaking up the texture and carrying your eye around the room.

The wall behind the bar is a layered silver stone. Its pattern reflects the reclaimed lumber walls while introducing a completely new organic material.  The roughness of the bar wall is balanced by the sleek pure white sushi bar and green glass pendants above.

The banquette seating and lounge areas pull the perimeter together by combining avocado and dark gray faux leathers with opaque white pendants.
